Animal Reiki
What is Reiki?
We live because life force flows through us along pathways called chakras and meridians. It also flows around us in an energy field called the aura. Life force nourishes our body's organs and serves and supports their vital functions. When this flow of energy is disrupted, it causes diminished function within our bodies.
The life force also responds to thoughts and feelings. When we accept negative thoughts and feelings about ourselves, whether consciously or not, we let them attach to our energy field and disrupt the flow of life force.
Reiki heals the energy pathways by flowing through the affected areas of the
energy field and charging it with positive energy. This allows the life force
to flow in a healthy and natural way.
We experience stress, illness, and fatigue when our energy levels are depleted. In this state, we risk opening ourselves up to emotional, mental, and physical upsets or disturbances. This can lead to disease or other issues. Reiki can restore these levels of energy and bring us back in balance again.
How Do You Know Pets Are Accepting The Reiki?
As a Reiki Practitioner, Laura can tell from the flow of energy in her hands. However, pets do offer several outward signs of acceptance that can be observed. An animal may sniff, lick one or both of her hands, or they may rub against them as well. They may either climb into her lap, lean against her legs, or even lie across the room, but they will generally enter into a deep state of relaxation almost immediately. She has had animals rest their heads or paws in her hands or even lie flat on their backs once the energy starts flowing. Animals may also start yawning. Most owners are able to detect unusual changes in their pet's behavior during a session which validates for them that the energy is being received. As always, it will be different for each animal being treated.
How Can Reiki Help Pets? Since Reiki works on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels, it is able to support the healing of a multitude of issues by promoting the following:
*Pain reduction and relief of other physical symptoms
*Accelerates healing of illnesses and injuries
*Eases the side effects of chemotherapy and other treatments
*Enhances deep relaxation and stress relief
*Aids abused and neglected animals in moving beyond those issues
*Eases abandonment issues for animals left at shelters or rescues
*Calms aggressive animals and those suffering from other behavioral issues
*Assists animals in their final days of life so they pass on peacefully
How Do You Know When A Pet Is Through Receiving Reiki?
Generally an animal will signal an end to the session by either waking up if they had fallen asleep or by moving to another activity if they were just in a relaxed state.
